Default Cnc?

So I know many of the guys that make frames use cnc's or mills. I was just wondering since I am wanting my neighbor to help me make a chassis on one of his cnc machines, which program should I use? I have autodesk inventor 7 and was wondering if that would work. I can't really get it to work out very well for me, I've only messed with it off and on for a while. I was also wondering if I gave someone my design, if they could make it to where I could put it on a disk readable file, and for me to be able to give it to my neighbor. Any help would be nice.

Not really that easy. Typical steps are: model/draw the part in CAD and then transfer to CAM which spits out the g-code for the mill.

Each CAM program is tweeked to the particular control for the mill. So two bridgeports of the same type and year might have slightly different controls and therfore programming codes.

No way would I let a person write code for my machine. Could easily cause $1000's of damage with a misplaced letter.

Check out this link: Great primer on G-code writing:

Editied thought:

You could make a .dxf (or whatever file type he prefers) of the design. That would speed up his end making G-code as he could import your file into his CAM package.

Can any one go off af a picture I drew with specs and every thing? I really would like some help here. I'm only 16 and just playing around with ideas, but I don't have the know how to do all of the machining stuff yet.

Read the link I post and learn G-code for yourself.

A chassis could be easily hand programmed.
