Since we are talking about it...

I have wanted a 3D printer for a long time but was waiting for one that is in my price range that could make "usable" parts. I think that the Mark One from markforged.com is just that. It prints in Nylon and can reinforce the part with carbon fiber, Kevlar and or fiberglass. Looking at sample parts online I think I've figured out the basics of what will or will not work. Obviously the real learning curve will happen once I have my hands on it.

The printer has two heads to switch between printing plastic and laying down the reinforcement strands.

First idea was a Kevlar (abrasion resistance) diff cover for Wraith axles. Drawn in Autodesk Inventor and rendered in Fusion 360

Then looking at the sample parts this CF brake lever looks a lot like a link.

1pc bent upper link. Drawn and rendered in Fusion 360

A lot more ideas to come! As I still have up to 7 weeks before it gets here.

Oh the possibilities!

I hope that printer can run 24-7!

I believe it's designed to... I'm getting two build tables so that it can get back to work ASAP.

Wow talk about an upgrade in the workshop there man I have an Ultimaker 2 and there are times where I run that thing almost non-stop on orders. It can be nuts but having a reliable machine is a bonus. My advice is don't get discouraged if at first it doesn't work! these have a bit of a learning curve but your well ahead with the CAD side though

Just curious if you had any scaling issues w/ the Inventor .stl when imported into the printers software? I've had issues when using Inventor where the dimensions are fine on the .dwg file, but when I uploaded the .slt into a makerbot or the nice Staysis machine in the Fab Lab, suddenly the dimensions were off by a factor of 10. ( one decimal place). As a test, I remade the part in Solidworks, converted the part into an .stl and had no issues with any 3D printer that uploaded the file.

Many minds that are much more experienced tried to figure out the issue w/ the Inventor files and could never figure it out.

I love this render. If I didn't have the file open I would have sworn it was real.

Haven't tried it yet. I won't get access to the software until I have the printer.

I used two cloud points on that render!

No. Need your address.

P.S. First glance I thought the Moa skid was real. Quit playing with Moa skid plates and design a wraith skid plate please.

Not only do you make artistic parts, but artistic renderings of them. Do you offer the renders framed?

It won't really work with the chump as is but I'm sure something can be figured out. To really take advantage of the angled link pockets the bottom of the chassis plates need to be completely different.

Hopefully we are in the last couple weeks of waiting for the printer. This part popped up on Facebook yesterday.

Edit: Found out it's a 1/10 4wd truggy arm. Which is awesome because I was starting to question if you could add CF reinforcement to parts that small.
