I stripped the anodising off of a set of wheel adapters using Sodium Hydroxide, I have 18,000 gallons here at work.

It is the main ingredient in the thick liquid draino, that might be the easiest way for you to get it.

Take them all apart and stick them into it. Leave them for about 15 minutes, run them under water and wipe with a rag, see how they are looking. Put them back in for 1 minute at a time rising and checking until you are happy with the results.

You have to be careful and do it a little bit at a time, because one of the common uses for sodium hydroxide is to etch aluminum ;)

The stuff I have done turns out great, you'd guess they were made that way.

Easy Off oven cleaner will do it, but it etches the aluminum a little. Jason has a chemical that works too, not sure what it was now though.

Edit: Jason beat me too it.
