Most of the radio shack stores in my area are closing so everything is on sale dirt cheap. I picked up a digital soldering station from them a few months ago, I think it's a 60 watt, and it has made a night and day difference in my soldering projects. Instead of dreading soldering now I look forward to it and i got it for $35.

I have a weller soldering station and love it. It's 7 years old and works like brand new. Highly recommend! Get a few different tips when you get one. Good luck on your decision. John |

Depends how much soldering you plan on doing. I use mine quite often for changing out esc/ battery connectors, and soldering up wires for brushless motors to esc. If you plan on doing this often than spend the money once and it will last you a very long time. I have the TrakPower 950 with the adjustable temp dial from tower hobbies and I love it. My soldering skills have improved dramatically with a quality unit. If your short on cash than go this route, yep towerhobbies has it on payment plans, two payments $39.99 each. I will never own a cheap weller or a harbor freighter again!!!! it has worked the last two years just fine, the best solder experiences I have had ever!

I use a trakPower 955, same as the 950 just digital. It's amazing how much better my soldering has become as well I believe the ability of the 60w unit to keep the tip at a consistent temp has a lot to do with it. When I first got it I was soldering everything, for the longest time I thought I just couldnt solder, come to find out I just needed the right tool for the job. |

I have an old Weller WTCPT iron, which I believe is 45w. I've been using this station for 10+ years, and it still works great! I do a bit of electronics repair, but also for soldering on battery connectors, motor to ESC connections, and other small stuff. Keep this in mind. You buy the right station, and it will (with proper care) last you a long time. My Weller was used when I bought it. Not sure how old it was when I got it, but it has served me well over the 10+ years I've had it. |

I use this one. It's a clone of the Hakko 936 Soldering Station with Adjustable Heat Range (US Warehouse) |

I have a Portasol butane powered soldering iron/heat gun/plastic knife. It is awesome. It takes just a few seconds to heat up. Any time I install anything electronic wise in my cars, trucks, trailers, ATVs, or whatever, I solder my wiring instead of using any butt connectors. It is so nice to not have to worry about where I am going to get power from or running out of power cord or getting the darn cord tangled or wrapped around stuff.
