I purchased one of these before christmas but haven't taken it out of the box yet. My Craps-man corded rotary tool and dewalt cordless have been doing the job so far. I don't know if i'm ready to justify the nearly 180 this thing cost me...

you should have just bought the press and the accessories kit not the dremel itself if you already have a crapsman. well it is ok to have an extra right.

I've got the Craftsman version of the drill press and it works awesome, for the small stuff. It has a little to much side to side deflection for some stuff though, but it certainly gets the job done.

As long as your Dremel has the removable cap at the top, where the arbor and chuck are, it will work.

I saw this yesterday and went down to a Harbor Freight location near here that I just happened to remember was around. Yesterday also happened to be the last day of the sale with this drill press at $39, I got mine. I also got a set of Dremel diamond cutting bits for $5 which is a kickbutt price, considering that the 3/16" bit alone is $15 at most stores.

I would prefer Vandalay drill press over Dremel press. Dremel press is not accurate and it tends to sly of to the side when drillng and apllying pressure to an object. Its built like a toy something from toys r us. I think its only good for starting and holding for grinding purposes.

The small Dremel presses are ok for 45 bucks. It's a good option for small places and budgets. But they do have some loose tolerances that can affect their accuracy.
The Vandalay press is much more precise and way more stoutly built for 100 bucks.
Personally, I use a Dayton 10" bench top drill press. 4 speed w/ a 1/2" chuck. It has performed perfectly for over 10 years. I don't remember what I paid for it but it was'nt astronomical. Under 200 bucks I'm pretty sure.
I have a Dremel but have'nt pulled it out in - man, thinking about it at least a year. I've had too many cases where the Dremel is just "not enough tool" for the job. That would'nt be the case with rc work, I know, but choosing a tool heavier than a Dremel is a habit I've developed making handmade knives and custom bike and car parts.
Everything I've made or modified on my TLT I've done w/ the drill press, a Bosch jigsaw, a Milwaukee hand bandsaw I've installed a small aluminum table on and converted to bench mount, and a Bader BM2 2X72" belt grinder.
