| Good hex driver set?
I'm looking for a good hex driver set with the standard 1.5, 2.0, 2.5, and 3.0 heads. I have some cheap ones now that have good heads but the handles are small and I can't get enough torque for some screws. Sent from my XT1042 using Tapatalk |

I will have to second the MIP statement. I've bought 2-3 various cheap sets over the last 5 years and finally went with a set of MIP's. The metal is far superior to the cheaper sets, which equates to less stripped screws and tool tips.

I bought 2 good sets from Losi and Associated over the last couple years and still ended up buying MIPs. $24 from Amazon for the 3 piece metric set speed tip set. Add in the 3mm wrench and any 1/4 drive handle and you are only at $40 or so. Amazon.com: Mip 9512 MIP Metric Speed Tip Set: Toys & Games

I've got some Hudy drivers that I've had for over 12 years and they're still good. You only need to buy quality once.

If you think MIPs are expensive, you may not want to look. But since you probably will: Hudy Cars & Trucks Hex Wrench Sets Wrenches Tools Maintenance - AMain Performance Hobbies |

I'm going to hijack OP's thread since he found a solution. I too am in the market for a good hex set -- the L-hexes I use are just too tough on fingertips after a few bead lock rings. You guys sold me on MIP but I would like to go with the Speed Tip set and choose my own handle. My question is this: what is a good quality 1/4" driver/handle? My requirements are a fairly compact profile, either a magnetic hex end or compact bit-locking mechanism to ensure the MIP Speed Tips don't fall out, and 3" shank +/-1". Edit: This Wera is exactly what I want... but with a standard 1/4" drive hex. Does anyone know of something comparable? http://www-us.wera.de/product_detail...esd&lang=en-US Last edited by Nickle; 11-04-2015 at 11:02 PM. |

drivers, they are very ergonomic with hardened tips. Search the model and part number in Google once you find it in the catalog and you will find a vendor.

You aren't kidding about the PDF catalog size; 290 MB. I find it hilarious that this is the image Wera chose for their catalog download page. My response was about the same; "290 meg? Are you ****ing kidding me?" |
