Default Hex bits and drivers?

I'm looking for recommendations and personal preferences on both. I actually have a good set of German ball end drivers, but looking for a good set of full drivers and bits.

I use the Associated 1655 set with my Ryobi Tec-4 driver.

This question is asked quite often and most of us give the same answers each time - MIP. They have drivers and driver tips.

I see. Are you looking for short 1" bits, the mid length 1.5" or semi-long 2".

I haven't seen hobby-grade "stubby" bits. You might have to go to something like Craftsmans, Snap-On or another non-hobby tool company. The issue there is they don't always have tolerances that are as tight as hobby-specific drivers like MIP.

I just found that Wiha makes stubby bits. They should be pretty high quality.

I've been looking for craftsman, snap on and such. Not much luck finding metric, especially smaller sizes.

Saw the wiha ones on Amazon, think I'll have to give those a try, as that's all I can find. I've heard in recent years wiha quality has gone down hill, but for the price it's worth s try. If I remember to, I'll report back on how they work.

Unfortunately the stuff me and a few friends have gotten from Wiha in recent years has not been up to previous Wiha standards. Most recent was a set of metric ball end drivers that slip in the screw heads when I try to apply any torque to them. Even the straight/standard hex drivers are a little loose in the screws, the new stuff we've bought just doesn't have the precise fit Wiha is known for. Also had a 2mm nut driver that was not too loose on the SSD scale bolts, but the socket end split trying to re-install/tighten the scale bolts.

I friend bought some Wera drivers and has been happy with them and you never know when a company like Wiha will fix any problems they may have.

At $10 it's worth the gamble, it's been almost a year since I bought the nut drivers and I got the hex drivers several months before the nut drivers. So Wiha could have purged the problem tools by now.

I bought some used tools off of the for sale adds here and I am really liking the Turnigy stuff. Honestly it's much better than the Losi, Associated, Duratrax and Dynamite stuff I've had in the past.

MIP seems to be the nicest modeler set available, I have been eyeing some Wera drivers recently. The Wera tools we have ordered in at work have been really nice and hold up well. Wiha has fallen off quality wise and the craftsman ends round off halfway through builds.

Never tried mip's. To much $.
But I started with the integy set. I know what your thinking, but they are really the only thing integy makes that's worth having. The best part is that I replaced all the 3 year old wore out tips with the tips from Locked Up RC. They also sell handles. These tips are by far the best I have ever seen. Tolerance is perfect, and I've been hard on em for a year now with zero wear.

Quality materials and very tight tolerance. I believe he has long and short tips, can't remember. Locked Up RC ftw!

I thought the SnapOn set was great, until I got a set of the MIP bits. The SnapOn mini hex set it for TVs, not RC. The MIP bits are fantastic.
