We've tested out multiple of our products in the new HP material. The material itself is great, but Shapeways still has some work to do on dimensional accuracy and consistency to get it on par with their normal Black Strong & Flexible prints. We have sent detailed feedback to Shapeways and will continue to monitor the situation so that we can switch our production parts over to the new material as soon as they sort out these issues. In the meantime, the Black Strong & Flexible prints are fantastic for RC parts and, as noted, vastly better in strength and appearance than most home prints using filament-based printers.

I've seen dimensional issues too, plus porosity on some parts with complex geometry. Parts like the inner fenders are great though. I'm sure the other issues will get ironed out soon and we'll be able to sell our parts in HP.

This is one of the Scorched Parts inner fendeds for the Wraith.
Parts like this look really good, but still waiting for news on mass release.

Shapeways recently ran trail for a new finish. Initially these were priced the same for beta testers. Once rolled out, these ‘premium’ prints are DOUBLE the price. Definitely not worth it. Hope they don’t do the same trick on HP prints.

My friend did not get in on the initial deal and does not sound particularly thrilled about the product.

So Shapeways just released HP multi jet fusion builds for all makers.... and it is double the price. Ha ha ha. That was a waste of time. Maybe worth 10 or 15% more, but totally pointless at that price.

Yeah, no thanks. I had quality issues with the parts I had made. Air bubbles in the final print, etc. So even if they fixed that, at double the price, I'll stick with the regular strong and flexible.

I love that HP markets this as "Lower Cost Per Part" supposedly from quicker print and clean up times as well as powder with higher reusability rates. Too bad Shapeways doesn't agree with that.

My issue isn't with HP's business model. It is with Shapeways' pricing for this printing method (possibly a result of HP's business model though.)

Agreed. I doubt it has much to do with HP. Looks more like Shapeways trying to cash in. Maybe we'll see the price drop when nobody buys it.
The strong and flexible is great stuff anyway. What we wanted was a better finish at the same price, or preferably a lower price. The fusion jet promised just that.... but what we actually got was a slightly better finish at double the price.

Not likely, MJF parts are color throughout. The white in the holes makes me think its regular SLS Nylon.
