| Power screwdriver & hex bit suggestions?
I'm almost done building my Bomber kit, and it's clear that I need a power screwdriver and bit set if I'm going to tolerate working on this thing regularly. I think I want the MIP driver set, but wanted to get opinions on what power screwdriver to look at.

I have a couple large Dewalt drills, but for the tiny RC hardware I'd rather something considerably smaller.

I got this one from Harbor Freight and don't have any complaints so far. https://www.harborfreight.com/48-vol...kit-61826.html I was using my 18V Milwaukee but seems overkill for RC sized stuff. The Harbor Freight one is compact, light, rechargeable, IMHO perfect for what I need. And, my construction grade stuff stays with those tools and I'm not running back and forth trying to remember where I left them. Just sayin' . . . . . . . . . |

I looked smaller and found crap. This model is only 12 v and with the clutch at 3, I don't strip plastic screw holes out. This is sized between a Dremel and a 3/8 hand drill I read this and picked the Dewalt. Now a year later, love it and the second battery. This is what I use. I've had it for years with ths racing hex bits. The bits also came with a ratcheting handle that I use often as well. The dewalt mentioned is nice, but a little on the big side (I use them at work). Milwaukee makes a similar one to what I have. Whatever you choose a selectable clutch is super nice to have along with 2 batteries.

Rigid brand from Home Depot will replace the batteries for free that alone sold me. The drills are also pretty nice! Sent from my Pixel using Tapatalk |

I use a craftsman 12v 1/4" impact driver that works great. Any of the better brands are perfect too. It was just the cheapest. I like the 1/4" chuck to use the bits I have. 100% use the mip driver bits. They are the best I've ever used. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |

I don't like using impact drivers or drills when I want a screw driver. The extra size and weight make them cumbersome if not impossible to use in certain instances. This is why I purchased an electric screwdriver. I use this one which now seems to be discontinued. It has high and low speed and something like 20 clutch settings. |

I picked up the $10 Harbor Freight power screwdriver last night. It'll get me through for now, but I'll definitely be buying something better when something goes on sale. Having the clutch would be nice, but my biggest complaint with the Harbor Freight unit is that it's not variable speed. It's just on and off. I'd rather be able to control the speed.

I have a wonderful clutched Hitachi cordless that I have had for probably six or seven years now and is still going. I don't use it much for screws except on beadlocks since it says in the garage for fab work. Sent from my SAMSUNG-SM-J120A using Tapatalk

You may have a tough time finding this exact one, I got it a number of years ago. Milwaukee has one that's a similar size that you can pick up at any Home Depot.

| Re: Power screwdriver & hex bit suggestions? I used this cheapo pretty extensively the other night, and it worked well. It's low enough in power that when the strews start to tighten, you can hear the sound of the motor change a little bit. Plus, you can start to feel the screwdriver start to torque in your hand, so it gives enough feedback for me to know when to stop. It worked well with no stripped screws.

Hitachi DB3DL2 Low speed and high speed, Lowest clutch setting is delicate for plastics (I was previously using it for laptops), 2 batteries, lifetime warranty, and it has the profile of a paper towel tube so you can easily store it in toolboxes or travel bags. Mine's been in service for 4 years so far. |

I use this compact 12V Makita FD01z. Two speed, adjustable clutch and variable speed control. Doesn't let me down. |
