3d printer for rc parts

JRH hit it, the tall prints, and fast speed create a shake in the frame, the braces eliminate it.
I put them on mine as it seems steadier, and I was able to get everything square.

Still working on dialing in and repairing this "refurbished" printer, but got my first functional (non-cosmetic) RC parts off it this evening.

Have a nice set of old Vanquish SLW wheels I got in a trade, but they're too narrow for my tastes. Tires looked really sucked-in. No one seems to make spacers for these anymore so I made my own....

Anyone printing with flexible filament? I am going to attempt to make some drive belts up. Looks like the CR-10 requires a few simple mods to work.

enable ironing, it smooths out all of the top surfaces and looks worlds better on most prints

cura, i would assume most of them do by now

Well well well! Went to check it today, and found Cura 3.3 is out. So upgraded to that. Big difference is no more automatic slicing. I had already disabled that, but looks like some freshness.
I did find ironing, and a 20 x20 x20 cube is printing now and being ironed.... I will see!

Won’t that make meshes from drawings ? Not sure it does cut, that would be a great addition

Meshmixer has the option to save each of the parts as an separate STL file.

I am printing with Polyflex flexible filament. It is a PCTPE filament.

The extruder speed and temperature really dialed in to prevent getting a extruder jam. If you push it too fast, it compresses which shortens it length but increases the diameter which then causes a jam.

The idler being too tight can cause it to bunch up too and not go down into the hot end. Nothing like finding filament coming out the side of the extruder.

If the distance between the hob bolt and the filament guide is too wide, then the flex filament can squish out the sides too. This one of the things that the mods to the extruder tries to address.

Once you get the printer dialed in, printing with flex comes out really well.

Yep found the mod for the CR-10. Appreciate the article. I have the pieces print for the mod. I'll start with that article and move on from there.

Does lowing the print speed help at all?

Looks like Repetier Host has an object split function as well. Seemed to work when I tried it. The zip I posted was split with Meshmixer.
