I print PETG with no fan at all. Acetal does have warpage problems if the part is large enough. Sharp edges will pull up. I would probably print acetal with no fan as well.

POM Tips:

To get POM to stick to the bed, use blue tape on the bed and hairspray on the blue tape with the bed temp set to 120C. I also had good luck printing on 28lb paper that was glued to the bed using glue stick.

POM is prone to warping so it prints best in a pre-heated enclosure.

Now for the kind of important safety stuff:

Don't let the hot end temperature get over 230C or let the filament stay in a heated hot end without printing for more than a few minutes. POM degrades and produces formaldehyde gas when over heated.

You get some formaldehyde gas when POM is heated to normal printing temperatures so you need to print in a well ventilated area.

Another reason to avoid over heating is that POM isn't self extinguishing and is easy to ignite when hot. its flame is nearly invisible so it is hard to see if it is burning.

Really important: Don't heat POM and TPE together. They will react and produce a very toxic gas. So make sure to run PLA or cleaning filament thru the hot end before switching between POM <> TPE.

That was from the manufacture, it appears to be close.

Some of the other posts I've seen say to get the bed to ~160c to keep the first few layers melted.

24v psu and mosfet kit are on the way, lets see if I can burn the house down

Maybe I should try petg with no fan, I still have it set at 100%. It might be why I need to print it at 240c to work

My suggestion is, why don't you try Nylon before than Delrin (POM)?
Both materials have very similar mechanical properties and Nylon is easier to print (not very easy but easier than POM)
And you can find right now quite a lot of Nylon filaments that are specially made for 3D printing like the Copa from Polimaker or the different ones from 3Dxtech.

In that case, how about 3D printing using hemp?

Here is my first Master Spool print so I can start buying filament in coils instead of reels that I have to pay to throw away.

I am feed up of the hype of hemp.
Apparently they are trying to give to that plant miracles applications, even curing cancer and stupid things like that.

It is just a plant that it is used on industrial applications since hundreds of years like manny others, it has nothing special, it is not better than others on some applications, and it is better than others on another applications. But that is all it is just a plant that produces useful industrial fibers like, flax, cotton, bamboo, and manny others.

Rewired the mini's bed with a cheapo mosfet kit, redid the power connectors with some binding posts to allow everything to run off 12v or everything but the bed and the bed at 24v.

Did a preheat with everything at 12v, hasn't blown up yet

Very cool.

Where do you plan on getting your filament coils? It doesn't seem like that many places (especially in the US) are on the Master Spool bandwagon yet.

The petg tests have been working. Going to switch the bed over to 24v tonight.

The Master Spool concept is really just started.

MatterHackers and Push Plastic are now selling coils of filament.

https://www.pushplastic.com/search?t...&q=masterspool

In some locations like mine, there is been push back to 3D printing due to the plastic waste that it generates including spools. I have to pay extra to dispose of the spools. If this trend continues, you will start to see more companies start to sell coils instead on spools.

Interesting.

Does your area tax Bottle Water differently?

Make the spools out of PVA

But it costs more than buying it on a spool already....

Right now that is true and that may not change.

We will have to see what happens when more manufacturers offer it and if there are other factors that influence the demand.

For some of the filament I am using, coiled filament will offset the disposal fee I am having to pay to throw each spool away.

3D printing has become more visible to the public and there are politicians that want to regulate it /charge fees due to waste plastic that is produced.

/\ are you saying the government is going to try to get in the middle of our 3D printing hobby .
They've already approved online sales tax nation wide.

From the little bit of research I did, not having a spool saves a substantial amount of shipping in Europe (where the Master Spool concept developed). Taking out the spool keeps the weight of a package of filament below the weight threshold where shipping rates dramatically increase. I think something around €4 vs €12 is what I read.

What I find funny is they are all willing to jump in and find ways to change laws and taxes while saying its helping the enviroment but you barely ever hear or see them boosting programs about recycling.

https://hobi.com/recycling-made-easy...ative-methods/

I wish I had the room to get into doing this. Million dollar business going through curbside recylcing bins.
https://preciousplastic.com/

Makes sense on the shipping part though. EAsy enough to change spools over to cardboard like Proto-pasta does.
