Default How to make a flatbed... what material?

I recently got the 2015 Chevy 1500 cab for my scx10.
I am wanting to get the tube half chassis rear from rc4wd..
Tube Back Half for Axial SCX10

Problem is, they don't sell the lexan flat part anymore. I believe it's discontinued. But I want to make a flat part to go under the tube back half..

Not something crazy hard. Just something rather simple. Does anyone have a suggestion..

I'd create a template with the flexible plastic that many 3-ring notebook binders are made of...

Then, I'd buy another material such as sheet aluminum and copy it over and make the bends to match, either leave bare or prep and paint.

The final material is up to you, of course - could use wood from popsicle sticks, or a hobby shop.

Excellent idea!

Shoot, I may have to trace my Ascender K10 cage panels onto that stuff myself! Heck - could change the shapes for more space, add a toolbox outta the stuff...

Hmmm...

Depending on how thick, you could possibly score it with a blade that you didn't mind having to resharpen, or even cut it with strong scissors/tin snips.

I picked up a set of tin snips that make short work of metal sheet that's fairly thick for $8 at Harbor Freight...

Can't be much harder to cut than the .030 Lexan most bodies are made of, it's a 3rd as thick!

Do you have any suggestions for bending /working the diamond plate? This will be my first time working diamond plate.. or anything custom for that matter..

You can get tin snips (Weiss, etc) if you don't mind burrs, hacksaw, or even a dremel. I just got some 0.5mm carbon fiber plate and it I can just barely cut it with a heavy duty Fiskars scissor. Some hardware stores still sell larger chunks of Lexan & acrylic, so do some craft/paint stores.

I got the diamond plate in the mail. I think I'm going to have trouble keeping it bent how I want it
