Default Any creality CR-10 users out there.

Whos got them and how do you like them? I have one in the mail, given the potential for this tech I though it might be a good idea to introduce my son to it and give him a chance to become proficient in 3d modeling.

The CR-10 looked like a good place to start with printing files from the interweb of things.

I don't have one, but it does seem like a great place to start. If you are on the book of faces there's a very active group on there. Congrats! I've looked at them myself as a second 3D printer.

The creality CR-10 is a good printer to start with and priced under $500 makes it a good value for what you get.

I listed a few links below that have reviews and talks a bit about the mods you can do. Also so information on other budget printers.

I've had a CR-10s for a week now. My first 3d printer, my first time 3d printing, but I do have 30+ years of professional technical experience.

As in the reviews, I had successful prints the same day I received it. What I have learned so far:

- make sure the x-axis bar is level
- level the bed and set clearance to the print head
- bed adhesion is everything. Gluestick on tape on glass is workng for now.
- nGen Flex prints without mods
- TPU won't print without mods (mods in progress)

The printer is in the garage sitting on foam blocks for noise isolation.

I control the printer over USB from a 2012 mac mini running cura 3.1 (3.2 does not connect properly).

Remote desktop/screen sharing lets me control the mac mini from my office upstairs, with video from a webcam sent via "athome" to my cell phone.

I am currently using tinkercad but am looking to move to fusion 360.

The CR-10 facebook page is a great support resource, but the sheer volume of posts drowns out casual exchanges. I know many turn their nose up at facebook, but at least it is maker friendly.

Enjoy your new purchase.

Aqua Net hairspray is my go to adhesion helper on borosilicate glass. I have trouble removing blue tape from part. It sticks too well in my experience.

I almost picked up the CR-10 and still might some day, but opted for the TEVO Black Widow. I'm currently redesigning the control box to accommodate a much larger power supply and moving from DRV8825 to TMC2130 drivers for better control of noise/torque.

Did the feeder flex mod and printed TPU on gluestick on glass. I've not found a local source for that hairspray yet, and the wife and daughters don't use anything similar.

I grabbed this one from Amazon last week, should be home (if the neighbors dont see it) when I get there today.

I looked at the CR10 also but I was nervous about the frame. Just seemed tall and smaller frame size, I got nervous about the frame wobble.

The extruded frames are pretty tough. My only suggestion is keep an eye on the black v-groove wheels they're soft delrin and are prone to flat spots when not moved for a day or so. There are some aftermarket poly-carbonate wheels available.

Thanks, Ill keep that in mind and look for some aftermarket ones.

So far Im really impressed with the machine. It came 80% assembled, only had to attach the tower/bridge part of it and plug in all the steeper and switch wires. Printed a couple test files they had on the sd card after leveling the bed and everything was real smooth.
