Default Soldering Station

I just got my new soldering station today and I was wondering what would be a good temperature for soldering.This station is awesome I can set it at any temperture. I'm new at this soldering stuff so any info would be grerat.

I have the same station...It is preference but 650 to 750 would be a start.

It makes me look like I know what I am doing.

Seriously, my LHS tried forever to get me to buy one. I said no...I have a 40w Radio Shack One...what could be the difference.

They finally got me at a weak moment and convinced me to buy one. It is probably the best item I have bought for use with the hobby in my 12 years of doing RC.

Don't hesitate another minute. You will not regret it.

936 is a beast . Seen it in action. And the user had never used a soldering station before.

What we learned was you have to prep the tip first or the solder will just fall off the tip.

Hmmm just clicked on your pic and noticed that the one I saw was a HAKKO 936 .


And the optimum temp for normal soldering is 400* .

so which hakko iron is best for rc use? 936 11 ,936 12 ,or 936 13?
