Default Cnc cutters

Gday all. I’m interested in getting a cnc cutter. Have had a quick look on eBay. Will just be for small parts, alloy/steel/styrene and carbon fibre. Are any of the cheapish ones ok or any you recommend.

Many thanks.

You can pick up something that will do plastic and wood for a few hundred. Its basically a 3d printer with a different head at that point.

I don't think you can touch anything that will do steel for less than a few thousand yet.

Any of the CNC Routers on Ebay will work for ya. The smaller machines with the DC Brushed motors will take longer and long term be more maintanance. Depending on hours of use and materials the brushed motors will need replaceing. Also the RPM in them is only good for soft metals with slow speeds, delrin with moderate speeds and real slow speed for carbon fiber.

The bigger machines with brushless watercooled motors spin in the range of 20000rpm and as long as the waters running the spindle stays cool. Generally those machines are bigger size with bigger steppers but do have their limits.

The bigger step is software for designing, software for cam and software for the machine. Even after the machine you're still looking at a couple hundred more after that.
