tap and Die
 

Good morning, I have recently bought a 66 jaguar e type fhc series 1 to restore. I should have it in one month and i ll do the restoration by my self, beeing a mechanic. I would buy the correct tap and die set for this car but I am quite confused on which are the right ones among UNC, bsf, withworth, bsw. Or either. My car will need a complete and deep restoration: frames, chassis and engine and hope to get loan on this company.

BSW British standard WHITSWORTH, BSF (British standard fine), UNC Coarse, and UNF Fine are kind of the same. They are both Unified threads (both measured in fractions.) Just have different angles and are NOT interchangeable.

Tip:

Only buy single sets, starter tap (pointed cut), bottom tap (cut flat), and matching die. Buying T&D sets are a total wast of $$$$. The money spent for a bunch of never to be used T&D's.

Could be put to a better use, buying quality tap & dies. Having individual sets, will out cut, stay sharper not break, and last a long time.

I sure hope that a guy who posted about tools for his 1:1 car restoration on a toy truck forum didn't wait 10 months for somebody to respond before moving forward with his efforts. :lmao:

I will not be hustling RC parts, nor do I buy used crap. But, I do and will offer common sense to questions asked.
