Converting scans to printable stl?
 

Lately I have been playing around with skanect with a Xbox 360 kenict scanner. I want to scan and print a 1/10ish version of my 1:1 truck. I have some decent scans so far but limited due to I’m only using the free version for now. That limits me to only 50k faces when most of the scans are around 200k. They major issue right now is trying to get those scans to a decent printable file. I have tried a few of the freeware options like blender meshlab and even fusion 360. I really am lost on most of them. I did finally try meshmixer which gave me a better file that I could actually print. It was just very limited on detail.

I am wondering what others are using to convert scans. I’m sure I could get a better answer elsewhere but I know there has to be at least a few people on here that have had success in scanning stuff. I would rather not have to pay $130 for the full version on skanect and then a few hundred on other software just to print one body

Holy crap they have one. Or at least a non licensened look alike. The Chevy luv is distinctive for the b pillars

Lars Christensen on YouTube can teach you how to use fusion 360. Then you can use your free scans as a template for creating high resolution parts manually.

I was writing a long message but something gone wrong, I reloaded the page and everything just disappeared... Second try.
I've also tried Kinect but was disappointed with the result comparing to the time I've spent...
But couple of times I've asked scanning company to do it for me.
It was cool. They'did everything them self: scanning, preparing for printing (I wanted pretty mush modifications so they modeled it for me according to my drawings) and printing. The only disadvantage is that all this is quite expensive. Actually, if I didn't have a friend in that company who gave me a huge discount I wouldn't dare to go to them.
However I've found a map of such companies, and it might be helpful for someone who don't care about money as much as I do.
