Tool for shocks ?

Is there a shock tool that is better than others, or it really doesn't make a difference what shock tool i get ?

I really like the Protek Shock shaft pliers, but any that have the part for installing ball ends should be just as good

I made a tool to hold shock shafts out of a old set of wire strippers with the crimping tool on the nose. I took my Dremel and rounded off the sharp edges of the crimpers, polished them and have been using it for the last 10 years. I know I didn't answer your question, but just thought I'd throw out a repurpose idea!

x4 I have protek as well. They just work. You'd only need to get another one if you happen to get a kit like Tekno where you need the hex shape for the shock caps.

Guess I'll throw in another vote for the Protek pliers, that was easily some of the best money I have ever spent in RC. In addition to holding shock shafts, they are great for holding links and turnbuckles while installing rod ends, holding shock bodies when tightening or loosening shock caps (getting the cap off the Incision shocks would have been a nightmare without these), and popping pivot balls in and out of rod ends.

Also if you are not in a hurry to get them, the Protek shock pliers are basically a lock to be heavily discounted for Amain's Black Friday sale. I think I paid $15 for my set one year.

For strictly shock work I'd take a set of losi shock pliers over tekno. They are built like a normal plier so the shock shaft goes in on the other side of the fulcrum from your hand vs tekno on the same side as your hand. This just makes it easier to grab the shaft.

I have tekno pliers now, I had losi and sold them to a buddy after buying tekno. Handy little buggers!

The only reason to get the beautiful Tekno shock tool or similar would be if you are a tool junkye

I am a big fan of the Protek shock pliers as well. I like this design because you get more leverage and clamping force. That way you don't have to squeeze them hard to hold the shocks or shafts in place.
