Couple of ideas for ya to get your feet wet.....

Variable speed, good for plastics; 7.5in. maximum drill height

even better, more versatile

A small bench DP, for the model builder could morph into a light weight mill.

This little Genesis 12v still seems like it would be a good inexpensive option.

It looks similar to my dewalt. It's an $18 drill with a $20 battery. But for hobbies as long as the clutch is decent and it's variable speed, how bad can it be?

Couple of zip ties and a 2x4 you got a bench drill, I just thought that was implied...

I guess it depends considers a bench drill.

I use a little 8v Ryobi as my “bench” drill.

This is available on Amazon for around $30.00.

I guess it would depend on what you’re drilling.

Plastic, G-10, aluminum, sheet metal, etc... several hours.

The 12v drills are roughly the same size, just more voltage.

Also, the 12v has a clutch, the 8v does not.
