I'm not a fan of things that have screws and wingnuts to prevent movement unless they have ridges where the two pieces interface - sort of like GoPro mounts. Otherwise it will move on its own. I can't tell if this stand has those ridges, but I hope it does or it'll be pretty useless.

I can buy a 6' 4x4 post at the local box store for about $9 and cut it in to 4" blocks and get 18 stands out of it. For $23 I'll keep my 4x4x4 wood blocks.

I bought this one off of eBay last year and it holds everything perfectly. Even my 1/8 scale savage flux xl. I paid $13 less for it. I would buy it again though.

Cool idea. I go to the dollar store and buy the planting foam blocks. $1 a piece and no work needed. We get to the same place with different materials and different costs. Sure, they won't hold cars at angles, but you quickly realize that's gimmicky.

Ive owned two of those swivel car stands "free with purchase of 150 or more at towerhobbies" about a decade ago. All they did was collect dust, so i gave one away, and still have the other. Both were never used as i just work on a table or workbench. They're all just gimmicks.

I don't like all that swiveling and moving around. Simple is better for me. I just get foam yoga blocks from Walmart and cut 'em in half. Two stand for $5 that are lightweight and work with a wide range of vehicles.

I'm with Inspector86 on the 4x4 blocks. After buying several CI blocks I decided to make some out of 4x4's. I had quite a bit of extra cutoff's from past projects. I cut the blocks to 4" high, painted them black and glued on a foam pad on top to cushion the links and help keep the rig from sliding off.

Nice improvement over a simple block of wood.

I’ve wanted to get some cheap yoga blocks, but never found any in the US. They’re only cheap when ordering directly from China from what I’ve found. And when I say cheap I mean around $1 a pop.

I’ve got one like this from rpm or proline from 20 years ago and really only use it with touring cars.
I’ve got an 8 foot workbench now and just stick a spare tire under the rig I’m working on.
Lol

I have a few stands one homemade and the other similar to what Ghonda99 posted and I dont think I've ever used them and felt like I needed it. I almost always use a table top. If I use anything its scale jack stands but just to mock up parts not while I wrench.

My homemade stand actually got converted into a tool stand lol.

I know you said a $1 a pop but maybe you can make a few out of these. They don't list the dimensions but from the picture (compared to the girl's hand and foot) it looks "big enough".

I just made my own from scrap wood & painted it red with some leftover paint. Works like a champ & holds my TRX4 Defender nice & solid. I put about a 12" rise on it. I will try to post some pics but I am not very good with technology, so no promises.

Yeah, says I am not allowed to post pics yet, sorry.

I’ve been looking at these fancy stands online, but I’m glad I stopped by this thread - I never thought of half these options. I think I’ma give the 4x4x4 a go with some foam on top.

I came to get down!

I've been buying empty black cornhole bags off fleabay and filling them with rice. Conform nicely so my rigs never feel like they are going to fall and they are cheap.

Great idea. I've got a couple Crawler Innovations blocks, which are great, but they're too expensive for me to buy one for every one of my crawlers that I want to keep elevated. The foam blocks would work great.
