| Solder Station Switch Guard
Well this isn't very in dept of a topic but I think it is an important one for safety, at least for my Solder station. The on/off switch on my solder station (TrakPower TK995 Digital) is on the side. When I move it around its pretty easy to bump the switch and turn it on accidentally. Rather than having to worry about setting my garage on fire I came up with a 3D printed solution. I designed a very simple guard that prevents this happening. Its glued on with some E6000 but anything that holds will do. this is how I typically store it, which is why it would flip the switch. Not much going on here but this makes me very happy that I no longer feel the need to unplug my solder station after every use. If you have a similar solder station and no 3d printer you can improvise and use wood, spare car parts, old RTR tires or ESC's. That's a great idea! Something I never gave a thought about. My Hakko soldering station has a switch on the side too. I'm going to give it another look to see if it's switch can be bumped on. Thanks for sharing the tip! |

Hm. Clever. I've also got the Hakko version of that station. Your solution is much more elegant than mine - I tape a bottlecap over the switch. Pretty crap-tacular.. Think I might have to knock something like that together, thanks for the inspiration! |
