I’m completely lost. The Bowden tube is clear! I’m going to take my nozzle off and hopefully it’s causing the problem.

Default Print not sticking

I actually figured it out! I took the Bowden tube off and there was a really small peice of filament in there. So I pushed it out, took the extruder apart, and put a new nozzle on. also tightened the bronze gear that pushes the filament through. It’s working like new now! Thank you to everyone who tried to help me!

It’s funny how the stuff I didn’t think would do much fixed it!

Does the little rubber cap that goes on the heat block do anything? I like it off, unless it has a purpose.

Nice! Glad you got things sorted.

I'm pretty sure the silicone boot just keeps molten filament from collecting on the side of the heat block. No functional purpose other than to keep things clean. Probably won't be much of an issue printing PLA. I'm trying out PETG now and it's some stringy stuff. I can see how strings could flip up and melt to the side of the nozzle where buildup could be a problem.

Ok thanks for the info. I just went ahead and put it on. I need to break out my PETG and experiment with it and decide if I want to print the bed for the F250 on PETG or PLA.

Okay, so what’s causing this? Sorry, I don’t know why the picture is sideways. This is the first layer, and I peeled up that corner, it wasn’t the printer.

Unless its just a test print you'll definitely want to use PETG

I'd recommend doing a lot more test prints with PLA before you jump into a huge print like a bed especially since you're still troubleshooting first layer issues. Also PETG is harder to get to stick well than PLA, so if you cant get PLA dailed in PETG wont be any easier.

Heres a forum thread on first layer curling: https://forum.prusaprinters.org/foru...layer-curling/

Yeah, I am definitely going to get more practice in on PLA.

Thank you for the thread link, although it not as much of curling, it seems it’s getting clogged way to fast. I put a new nozzle on yesterday, and it seems clogged now. I’m sure there’s something on that thread though.

Temperature Tower and a PID tune.

I printed PLA for 6months to get ME dialed in . I found the temperature was bouncing like a ping pong ball, constantly running erratic layers. I did a MOSFET mod and micro Swiss hot end and started printing perfectly. Then CF PETG was actually easy. I learned higher temperature printing worked best for me, as I run oversized fans to keep it quiet.

Bed doesn't look level to me. The layer starts thick, then progressively thins until you have essentially zero thickness.

Every once in a great while it goes down to 198C but, mostly stays.

Really? Just because I asked? Don’t have to be like that man. I posted because of the other problems I have, didn’t know if this would help with figuring out the exact problem with it.

Not trying to be argumentative, but why say this? I’ve watched plenty of videos, they all say level your bed. I level my bed, and it still doesn’t work. Soo, I come here and see if anyone knowledgeable like GreatScott, Bray-D, or anyone Else knew.

I don’t see a problem in that, do you?

Again, not being a smart ass, just talking.

I’m honestly so aggravated with this Ender 3. I fix one thing, another thing doesn’t work. I’m starting to think the printer itself has problems, not operator error.

Have you tried asking for help on the Ender3 community on Facebook ? You will probably get more help there.

Another option is to check around to see if there is a local users group to find someone to take a look at your printer. (I know this is a lot harder to do due to covid-19)

Bed Adhesion problems can be caused by:
  • Incorrect distance of the extruder to the heat bed / bed not leveled.
  • The heat bed surface isn't clean.
  • Wrong temps for your filament.
  • Gcode not sliced correctly
  • Warped bed
  • Bad filament
  • Operator inexperience - It takes a while to learn the pitfalls.
  • Many more small issues.

Here is the leveling procedure that I used to help a friend to get his Ender 3 printing. https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:2969712

I would also check the bed with a straight edge to make sure the bed isn't warped.

Don't give up on it. Learning how to 3d print takes time. .

Thank you for all the things to try. I tested the it with a straight edge, and it’s perfect. I am using Hatchbox PLA at 200C extruder and 70C for Bed. I know, it’s probably my fault somewhere, and I’m not gonna give up on it.

Also, I didn’t know there was a Ender 3 community page. I’ll have to check that out. It may answer my problem.

Also, that link just takes me to Thingiverse home page.

Here is a link to the manual process for leveling: https://all3dp.com/2/ender-3-bed-lev...-need-to-know/

For the leveling gcode / process on Thingiverse search for the user: Ingenioso3D
The name of the thing is: Ender 3/5 Bed leveling G-CODE + test print + LCD STEPS UPDATE 28/11/19
