Weldability of TF2 chassis?

Anyone try welding one of these? Is it 6061 or some mix of chinese alumi-pot metal?

I can tell you that it's not pot metal but also cant say what alloy aluminum it is. On my chassis you can clearly see the endmill chatter on the to section of the frame rails. It is not cast then machined its machined from a billet.

With the correct tig setup I would say you shouldn't have an issue welding it.

Maybe try a spot on the frame first before you go cutting it in half lol. I think the frame is around 80$ from rc4wd.
