| bending and welding tubing?
i picked up some 5/32 piano wire today to make some stuff for my scale project, just wondering what you guys use to bend you pipe so smooth? just brake line benders? and what the easiest way to weld it? just tack it with a mig or braze it? thanks guys

from what i have gathered and the general concensus is mapp gas. they sell it at wal mart if im not mistaken

Or lowe's I use a bernzomatic map gas torch.

Oh, don't forget the Harris Safety Silv 56 for brazing. Get the kit that has the Flux paste and the coiled solder/brazing material.

just make sure you don't buy the mapp gas kit, as the torch puts out way to big of a flame. Just get the bottle and an adjustable head for a propane bottle. Works GREAT!

Did you know you can also fill the tuber (if that's what youre using cap off the ends and bend the tueb. The sane inside will prevent it from kinking....Just an old trick we used years ago

dont try to bend piano wire with a tubeing bender, it will snap. piano wire is spring steel! you will need to aneel(sp) it first, in other words you will need to make it soft before you try to bend it. put it in a vice and bend it with a hammer (the only way you will be able to) it will crack at the bend. 5/32 dia piano wire will bend in your hand nice and easy, go slow with a tube bender and you will be fine. practice with scrap first; thats always a good bet.

I use MAP and PRO with the hose "kit" from HD. Never had any issue with the torch producing too big of a flame.
