Do you have any links to the airplane molding tutorials that you used to get started? Me and a friend have been throwing around ideas about a rocket powered land speed car, and a CF or composite body and/or chassis would be perefect.

Aweome build, I had to do this for a prototype r/c plane, lots of work involved. For everyone else another option is to use HighDensity Blue foam and lay the cloth over it. You can then hollow out the space you need w/o building a mold. Built an R/C sailcar this way... worked out pretty good. Of course Mike can now pump out as many pods as he wants that are identical  |

holy kick *** batman! So to make a full size (1/10th scale) jeep body I'd just need to cast it in PP? pull out the lexan body and then seal the mold and make the CF skinned version? All in a nut shell of course... do you think it would work? I'm intersted in building the lower half, hood, doors ect. thanks WaWa |

plaster o paris is what I ment... where are you getting the gypsum plaster? Home Depot? I think that if I leave the body whole (don't cut anything off it) and just stick it in a box (upside down of course and filling the box with plaster around and then just CF the parts I want... trim the rest off... right?) I wouldn't have to many issues with it deforming since they are fairly sturdy in the original mold... maybe I could use dowls to brace the sides?? The only problem I could see having is the plaster mold curing at the right temp... guess I could make a cure box out of something and using light bulbs... Hmmm you've got the wheels turning... thanks WaWa  |
