GD600 question, yes I searched

How do you turn down the shaft on a GD600 :?:

I have read on it, but like most of the threads, it does not tell you how.

You cannot fit the thing in a lathe machine so how do you do it?
Do you PRESS the Shaft off the Gear and turn it down on the end and then press it back on?

Please explain

Or is there a 5mm pinion some where :?:

thanks

Rc4wd makes some 5mm pinions.
or
Do like I did and chuck the GD600 shaft up in your drill or better yet drill press. Then take a regular file and reduce the dia till a normal pinion will fit.

How are you to "chuck it up in a drill " when there is only 1/4 of shaft on the other end ???

Thay's how I did it, I chucked it right into a drill. Once you disassemble the GD the output shaft gear should slide right off.

Yea it does Not slide off, so Do I put in a vise and press it off ?

1/4" to chuck up was plenty for me...

You're right it doesn't come off, I checked mine. For some reason I don't remember the gear being there when I filed it down, and I just did it like a month ago. I guess that means the gear wasn't a problem or in the way.
