So many metal joining methods How to decide . Stay-Brite Silver solder Is there a Expert that can tell us How strong these are , how to decide what to use ?? I have both of these to use but the stay-brite is so much easier to use. Stay brite silver solder saftey silv 56, Brazing with mapp gas Any others ? Thanks |
i use UNIWELD. UNI-1000 flux and UNI-1056 silver solder, brazes awesome. its the same pretty much the same stuff as harris. |
the silver content is what makes it strong. ie: harris 56 is stronger than 45, with harris the number is the silver content |

IS the Mapp gas brazig stronger than the butane torch with silver solder :?: |
mapp vs butane dos'nt matter with the strength. diff gasses just heat up the material to be "welded" faster than others. I'm actualy not sure about butane compared to mapp, I use mapp and it works fine.... |
:?: so basically you would use Mapp gas because the silve content is higher therefore it needs more heat Why use silv 56 with mapp gas which costs more then just a butane torch and silver solder such as stay-brite or ultragrip :?: |
You wanna get in and out with the heat as quick as possible. Silver solder flows at a lower temperature than silver brazing alloys. Silver solder is just as good, its just used where heating a component (like a refrigeration valve) to join to copper at lower temperatures, where brazing would ruin parts inside the valve. |
