Mini Sand Blasting Kit

Check this out.. just found this looking for a b-day gift for my wife. Michaels Imaginate Sand Etch and Stencil Kit

anyone tried this yet before i drop some bucks..... might work good for blasting the tubed frames prior to paint.

It seems you would still need a blasting booth or enclosure. If you have an aircompressor, can't you get an attachment that will spray blasting media?

we had somthin simalar at the one shop and did custom glass etching stuff with it more like a airbrush them any thing else I think it would work on a tube frame but would take to long and not do as good a job.
I have one like this and it works great
http://www.harborfreight.com/cpi/cta...emnumber=95793
does small spots really well
they other one is such a fine spray it would suck.

if you are getting it just for your wife to etch glass and things like that they are sweet the stuff i did on car windows was awsome. blew a couple out to woopsy. just have to get the hang of it before you go blasting car windows.

How long ago. I ck'd and it shows $19.95. Any spare tips ? Also, what is the not included screen about ? thanx

Double J 11-14-2007 03:48 PM

I'll have to look into the screen not included. and I beleive you can get spare tips.
I got it one of their sidewalk sales about a month or so ago.?

It's still in the package. I'll open it tonight.

the screen is for keeping large debri from clogging tip. that is the only problem i ever had with mine to was using black beauty i think that is what is called. it is larger and would clogg tip I would just shake the crap out of it then all was good again.

I wouldnt really say that I would say I was using the wrong media but it is what I had and i did not have a screen in mine either. if i had a screen in there i could not have even used the media i had it is for blasting bridges and things like that so it is rather large. the media you should be using is very fine and should not clog at all.
I would give them "thumbsup" "thumbsup" up for proper use. how is that.

What about this one ?

that would be good for etching glass and very fine detail work not what you want for a tuber IMO. might be nice for sand blasting hard body to simulate rust. it would give you finer spray pattern and better control.

I guess you could do them with it if you have forever. and they are not real bad to start with. it looks a little small to me.

Double J 11-16-2007 06:08 PM

well I used the Centeral Pnematic one I posted above last night. Worked well but I really need to finish making the cabinet. Garage filled with "smoke/dust" in no time flat.

I would like to have a narrower nozle to shoot it with. The one on it gives to wide of a spray even close up to the tuber I was testing it on.. But it did do the job until the garage had a black cloud covering everything in there. Glad the wife didn't go in there or I may have been returning it today.;-)
