Default brazing

i know there are a lot of post on here most of which i have already read.my deal is that i have been looking aroung for materials to build a tuber,i found all of the stuff i need but when i found the saftey silv at my local welding supply the sales person told me that mapp gas would not burn hot enough to melt it with out oxy. all the post i have read have have only mentioned mapp for smaller stuff and oxy mapp for larger stuff the saftey silv i found is 45% for 14$ a t/o he has 1 oz and 5 oz, which should i get seeing that its my first time trying to braze and should i believe him and get the oxy mapp setup or do i not need to

believe this:

Brazing Video

mapp gas is plenty hot for brazing. Did you mention that you are only doing "hobby" type brazing? He might be under the impression you are joining much larger and thicker pieces and thus needing alot more heat.

dont burn your house down.

When your done take it by there and let him know how you built it

My local shop did pretty much the same thing (they get comission) and tryied to sell me an accetlyn(sp)/oxy set up for $500.

They were surprised with what I had to show them, then they asked how strong it was in a shrud kinda voice.

1st I slamed it on the ground
Then went and picked it up and had his Fat As* stand on it and told him to hop up and down.

Now they always ask to see what I've done and take pics..
