| Worth the time?
Is building a maxx crawler worth the time? Do you have any tips on building one? Any chassis templates etc... Thank you!

they aren't real bad crawlers, but I don't think they will crawl as good as a clod based rig. I personally prefer a shaft driven rig, but to build a maxx based rig prepare your self for a whole bunch of hand fabrication as no one makes the parts to convert. This is the one I build over the winter, sold it in the spring and bought a scorpion |

if you really do your research you can see the benefits of the different trucks. the basic from what i have found is the clods have super low COG and no torque twist, txt are cool because they look real, and maxx generally have high diff clearance but unfortunatally tend to have high COG. another benefit to maxx is how many different options there are to set them up. If you wanted a kit I know double J made some axle tubes at one time or you could look at how I made mine, it was pretty simple. I think axle choice should depend on what you want your truck to do. anyway, i know you could cram alot more info into this post, but that is the condenced version. |
