Default Rear Diff. Clicking Noise

When I go and try to drive over a rock, the rear wheels stop and there is a clicking noise coming from the rear differential. The front moves normally. The back driveshaft still spins but the wheels in the back don't nor do the axleshafts. What do you guys think is the problem? I've checked it 3 times for bearing, grease and chips but nothing seems to be wrong. I've also checked the slipper clutch to see if its too tight but it isn't. I also have a rear spool. If what you guys suggest doesn't work I guess i'll just buy all new gears. Thanks for the help.

THat would most likely be the screws that hold the ring gear to the diff. sheared off. Or you stripped the ring/pinion.

Yeah, I looked at it more closely and there were 3 stripped teeth on the ring/pinion gear, so I'll get a new one sometime soon.

i had the same problem yesterday i took apart the differential and one of the gears had a missing tooth so i just put jb weld in it and locked the differential it stopped clicking cause the jb weld sorta just filled in the missing part and i lock the front differential to and lock the slipper clutch that thing will crawl anywhere now. so instead of replacing it lock the differential instead it works better and give you positive traction all the way around.

skittle, id think it stoped clicking because there WAS NO MORE diff action after you locked it. and e-maxxmans ring pinion is the problem not a spider gear.
