Dig A feature of the drivetrain that allows a driver to enguage only the front or rear axle while the other axle is left to freewheel or is locked. When the front axle is being driven, this is "front dig." When the rear axle is driven, it's "rear dig." Dig is used to negotiate tight turns and avoid reverse penalties.

hell you would need a 5 cannel radio in order to operate the dig. or you could modify the gear shift and keep it in low and make your own dig. but having unlockable axle really helps not needing dig. but a truck that big need lots of room any way

I did the lock it into low gear and use the gear selector servo to engage/disengage the rear drive. It doesn't lock up the rear tires yet, but the freewheel works ok.

I'll try! Give me a day or so to tear it apart. I'll try to get some good pics with my crappy camera.

Basically the tranny output shaft that exits the front and rear was cut into two pieces. The front is driven directly just like the e-revo tranny does. The rear drive is selected by the 2-speed gear select servo. It engages a cog just like the 2-speed gear cogs in the 2-speed. I know I suck at explaining this so I'll try to get some pics soon. Mine started life as an e-revo by the way.

My brother just finished his in his Summit but unfortunately he is in the Phillippines right now. Ive seen it work and im impressed. It hasnt been on the rocks yet and that will be the true test. Ill get updates when hes back.

Ok, so here is what I did. I took my e-revo crawler, and slimmed it down a lot. I thought I could make a dig, and here is where it has been since May. I started with the standard e-revo trans w/ the 2 speed conversion. To do this with the summit trans, you may need parts from the single speed e-revo trans. I cut the output shaft in two pieces. One drives the front. The other drives the rear. The gears on the output shafts are fixed mounted rather than just spinning on a bearing. In the picture you can see the set screw holes in both gears. The front gear is driven with the 2-speed 1st gear. My front output shaft gear is from the single speed tranny. The rear gear is driven by the shift fork selector. The rear gear doesn't need any teeth on it in my application. It only needs the shift fork engagement, and it is actually a gear from a nitro revo tranny. With the tranny driving the front on a fixed mount it eliminates the rolling slop in the 2-speed tranny. For now mine is just a freewheel dig. I was thinking about doing a disk brake setup on the rear driveshaft(like a nitro revo) for front dig. So far I have not come up with anything good and cheap for locking the rear up.

I cant really tell from the pics but im understanding that you took a 2spd tranny and used the shift fork to lock the rearward gear and disco the front so you have a dig?

Yes, Basically. The two speed tranny uses floating gears that drive the output shaft via the shift fork engagement. The single speed tranny uses a gear that is directly connected to the output shaft. I am using the direct connection to drive the front. And the shift fork engagement drives the rear shaft off the front shaft. So the rear gear had to be secured to the output shaft too. In the pictures, the front output is on the right, and the rear output is on the left.
