| Lipo suggestion help for summit
My friend and i are looking to get Lipos for our summits. We need some help. which brand? voltage? what do I need to run them? I have been looking at maxamps website and they seem a little pricey but i need somthing waterproof and that will last through mud and snow. I also dont know whether to get 7.4 or 11.1? I would like a longer run time and a little more power. but do the 7.4 make it any faster? Do I need anything like a BEC to hook these batteries up? thanks guys |

Alright you'll want 2 4s lipos = 14.4 volts. that way you and you're friend could be out there all day long playing with them. Got to www.hobbyking.com look for the turnigy loipos you'll need a ;lipo charger, and a Novak low voltage cutoff. Good luck man and as for wayterproofing just get some plastidip and plastidip the ends of the batteries and you'll be ready to. Goodluck man.

2x2s is 14.4 volts nominal. fully charged 2s lipo is 8.4v so x2 would be 16.8v perfect for the evx 2 the alarm is from hobby king about 5 bucks plug in to the balance tap and go no wireing as long as you are not submerging the truck the plastic dip is a good choice.the turnigy lipos have had nothing but good reports from what i have read and will be the next lipos i get.I'm looking at 2s1p7.4v 40c lipos from the king

Thanks guys! Now we have the stock brused motors. so all we gotta do is get the low voltage cutoff. What kind of run time would you say 2 5ooo or 6ooo mah would get us? |

slow speed climbing i'm getting close to a hour a set of 5000 30c thats with 8.26" tall rc4wd rock crushers the stock motor i got a bit more not much.plus the fronts are weighted so with wet foam and weight + winch had to be pushing 20 pounds.high speed pretty short ,weight plus low gearing not a whole ton of fun I don't do speed much

yeah I tend to stick to slower speed with the summit... its a blast taking it through mud holes and clibing steep hills with it!

| a condom and a zip tie work very well for making lipos safe for mudding and splashing i still would not submerge them thats asking for trouble.go find the cutest girl in the drug store and ask with a straight face "Excuse me miss i'm looking for the largest condoms you sell".heavy duty balloons will work as well if you can find some to fit A quick explanation is the discharge capability So 5000mah/1000=5amps 4000mah=4 amps..etc the"c"rating is a multiplier if you will 5000=5 ampsx30c 5 amps x 30=150amps 40c 200amps..... so it tells you that the battery is capable of supplying 30 times the capacity of said batt the reason i say buy 30c or higher is if you are running hard it's easier on the batt's and the electronics to have more than you need they will supply the amps that are demanded with less "effort" so everything should run cooler and last longer plus if you for some reason add load to the system there will be power available. On my summit which is close to 20 lbs with wet foams I'm running 2 2s 5000 30c with a dewalt 14.4v and 8.26"tall rock crushers from rc4wd.comand they are junk lipo's next ones will be turnigy of zippy's I love the pics and i agree it is really cool to see summits in action around the world we are our own little club there are no other trucks that can be grouped in with us we stand proud on our own here's the first decent pic that i took of my summit a month old or so i think I didn't have the feel of the truck yet but the truck made up for my driving and made it up in spite of me Last edited by jaymann; 01-26-2011 at 10:53 AM. |

If you overdischarge a lipo it will damage it. 2 2s packs will make you happy this truck performs much better on lipo

what do you guys think about this? http://hobbyking.com/hobbyking/store...idProduct=9172 just as long as the performance will be as good or better than the stock batts. not that expensive should I give these a try? |

I bought some turning 5800 25c for my summit and they almost fit. I had to modify the battery doors for the wiring to stick out. The wires were very stiff and did not bend out the little slots that are stock.. Just FYI. http://hobbyking.com/hobbyking/store...dProduct=10285 Not sure the size comparisons. Too lazy to compare Last edited by menace; 01-27-2011 at 05:39 PM. |

Im just wondering if it will run just as good as the stock batts with those lipos...it says 20c with 30c max discharge....for $30 plus shipping i think it would be great...as long aw it will be like stock with a longer run time. How long would you estimate it would run?
