Default E-Maxx gear (72T spur & 9T pinions

I put the 72T spur gear and 9T pinions on my stock E-Maxx last night and it is very jerky, and seems like it has to much of a whole shot to crawl.

Anyone else have this problem?

I am going to take it out tomorrow, and see how it does, but it just seems to have to much power. And I can't tell which way is 1st gear either. I thought up on the switch was, but not sure.

Any suggestions or info would be greatly appreciated.

I am locked both front and rear.

That's weird. I've got 76/9 in mine and have no such issues. What size tires are you running. Larger tires will reduce this just because of the increased diameter.

As for the tranny in low or not it depends on whether you have your servo reversed or not. I believe if the tranny servo is in the forward position the tranny is in Low... but I may have that backwards.

First gear is engaged when the shifter linkage on the tranny is all the way out.
Second gear is when that linkage is pushed in.

he's right, the rod is out for 1st and in for 2nd.

As for the jerkiness........hmmmm, it may be b/c of the 2 titan motors, maybe they have too much punch at 72/9 gearing. Try some lathe motors perhaps. It could be your evx too so check the settings, maybe it has a way to turn it down.

On my emaxx tranny/x axles I had one mag mayhem on 72/9 gearing and a 3000 batt and it wasn't jerky at all.

hope this helps

I have some other motors, but I won't be able to do anything to try them by tomorrow.

I talked to the guy at the LHS, and he said that EVX is not a very good speed control. It doesn't have as many sectors as the Rooster and Super Rooster. He said either of those would make it better.

So, I am going to run this tomorrow, and then after that, it will probably get tore down when I am done building my real Jeep and build a Maxx crawler.

Theres no adjustment in an esc.

The reason yours doesn't jerk from to much torque is because your only running 6v. This will make a huge difference.

T-man If you switch to six volts the jerks will definitely go away and your run times will increase, believe it or not. Do a search here on the site for instructions. Don't expect it to go fast with 6v.

EVX is a great speed control for going fast, your LHS just wants your money. The SR may be better, but the EVX is way better than the Rooster.
