| Make it more "scale looking"
Love the truck, hate its looks. I want to make it have that "scale 4x4" look. Any ideas? what kind of bodies and tires is going to fit on the Summit? Im not going to do a 6 month project replacing every single part on it. Some crawler tires and a new body would do just fine. |

ON TOPIC: If you want it to look proper you need to get a 1/8th scale body or scratch build one. What i did with mine was turn it into an extended cab, by cutting out my own windows. I took the area occupied by the window sticker and cut a front window and rear window out of that area, i then cut off the rear upper part of the body and flipped it into a bed. Then slammed the body to the point i had to do some trimming on the mounts. a better way would be to use E-MAXX mounts, they are a lot easier to go low with. the only option to get more scale looking wheels is to convert it to 14mm hex, but thats kind of counter productive. Traxxas put 17mm on it for a reason. OFF TOPIC: then i got tired of bull crap run time and never ending back flips and got rid of it and built an SCX10. My friend still has a summit, i can out climb him on any hill, i run as long on one battery as he does on 4 and my truck is WAY more customizable. The Summit is fun as a basher, well if you run monster batteries so it actually gets some speed going. but thats all its good for. It will never look realistic, it will never be a good crawler and it will never be a good monster truck. Its just a mash up of the two. I never sell anything and i unloaded my summit three weeks after I got it hahaha It is fun to jump off stuff though Here is a pic right before i cut out the rear window Start of the bed Last edited by street.terror; 02-08-2012 at 11:00 PM. |

I took it as an insult - especially since your summit is only a beast while mine is a FREAKIN MONSTER!!!!!!! not quite scale looking but still monstrous - My summit seems to completely transform itself every 6 months. |

Dirt and grime adds a lot of scale "realism" to it.

| Re: Make it more "scale looking" I did a combo of things to get it a bit more scale. Although far be it from a "scaler", its closer than the stock truck. I put on tech 5 rims, bringing the tires under the truck a bit more and built a bigger body for it. I dont like the idea of making one a 2.2 truck, just goes against everything that the truck was built for. But with a little custom work it can be a little less monster truck.. |

I took the Jeep body from my Nylint Rock crawler , and with a few adjustments put it on the Summit . It turned out OK.

I have actually seen where somebody extended the chassis at the rear end. honestly that is probably the most scale summit ive ever seen.
