Tire choice will depend on your build, driving style, and on driving conditions. For example: I couldn't get away with running Super Swampers on a Class 1 build, and I wouldn't run Mud Slingers on the wet river-rock in my area. At the end of the day, it's a matter of personal preference. |

I run Pit Bull Rock Beasts with stock 2-stage foams. The tires are very soft, with good grip, but my rig is VERY heavy so I might be looking at switching to denser foams. https://www.rpphobby.com/product_p/pbtpb9003nk.htm Last edited by the_ghetto_rig; 04-23-2018 at 08:27 AM. |

Proline Hyrax with Proline dual stage foams. I'll put them up against any tire.

If you are hungup on the scale look then you can try Proline TSL Super Swampers. They are my second favorite tire.

Definitely the Hyrax for me as well. They've proven superior over a broad range of choices in straight-line traction and climbing ability on any rig I've put them on.

Well I tried the Hyrax out for a few months and wound up not liking them, I felt the siping was letting them down (where I drive at least). My current favorite are the Proline Krawler T/A's

mostly rock, I used them on a quite heavy TRX-4 so it could be that the foams weren't a good match though they were the CI dual stage foams stiff in the rear medium up front.

I run / ran the Hyrax on my SCX10, with CI Lil Nova Med Fr / Firm Rr foams. I bought the Austar Hyrax knock-offs for my 2 boys' SCX10s, running same foams. I was surprised at the knock-off's performance. They went anywhere my truck did. Just something to think about, as they're cheap. I recently got Proline TSLs from my SCX10, just cause I wanted to try them. This time I went with Duece's Wild XL foams. They seem to do just as good as the Hyrax did, but I've not taken them on a true test and ran the same trail back to back with each. I was impressed enough with the Austar knock-offs, that I bought a set of their TSL SX knock-offs to run on my TRX4. Still building it, so haven't ran them yet. ETA - this is all terrain conditions, rock, mud, water, hard pack, loose pack, etc |

The Krawlers, which have more surface area, would definitely do better on clean, dry, and smooth rocks than Hyrax. But throw in any debris on the rocks and I'd give the edge to Hyrax.
