I just replied to another guys thread regarding his new TRX4. Before doing any upgrades I would at the very least plan to replace the steering servo and ESC. You may not need to but a LOT of folks have issues with the stock servo crapping out fairly quickly. And when you upgrade that servo that's when you'll likely need a new ESC that can handle the draw of the new servo. Good news is that replacement ESC's like the Hobbywing Quicrun WP 1080 are a great bang for the buck... about $30-$35 and there are plenty of fairly cheap 20kg servos out there... $20+. So anyway... just be mindful of that and have a great time with your new TRX4. I loved mine so much that I bought another. They are an absolute blast with the portal axle clearance and the f/r selectable lockers. I don't use the 2 speed option much but it's another cool feature.

No, you can't have too many toys! Your storage space and girlfriend/wife may disagree, but don't pay them any attention. Welcome to the site. You picked up a great first rig! The TRX-4 doesn't need many ugprades. The steering servo is something you might want to upgrade, but then the ESC will need a BEC or, better yet, just upgrade the ESC to the HobbyWing WP 1080. Another good upgrade is tires. The stock tires are one of the best RTR tires, but there is still room for improvement. After that you can add portal weights for the front (I suggest SSD, but there are other brands). |

Servo and tires first IMO.
