That is a great story! How old were you then?

My memory of those days was the joy of taking the RC out to the family cottage. In the summer, my cousin used to come visit us there. He would bring his Super Champ.(that was a cool one) We used to clear out small courses in the
Woods. Crazy to think how much effort I put into that.

I was 14. I'm laughing to myself because me and my buddies used to do the same thing in the woods at the end of our street. We also had a pretty cool little track behind my buddies house. He had a Kyosho Optima that seemed like a space ship at the time! It was a mix of a few Frogs, a couple Hornets, the afore mentioned Optima, a Scorpion, and my RC10.

We also had a pretty sweet BMX track back those woods. Talk about work. There was a small army of us who also raced BMX. I'd guess we moved a few metric tons of dirt around with only shovels and wheel barrows to build the jumps and berms. We would ride and train there all the time. We even fashioned up a decent drop gate for starts. I look back at how much fun we used to have being outside all day and doing that kind of stuff and can't help but think what kids these days are missing out on.

Wheels, Hyrax Tires, CI Foams, Low CG Battery Tray, 45T spur, 12T pinion, and slipper eliminator are on the way.

Playing around with wheel / tire combinations I have on hand tonight. I kinda like the profile and aspect ratio of this set-up.

Same here! That's my only unbuilt kit. At this point it's an investment though. I also have a once tested Worlds re-release that I'm thinking about selling.

Is it an original IN-BOX RC10?

That's awesome! Even has plenty of life left on the rear tires and those skinny fronts!

For sure! I keep thinking about a restoration. The only thing I would kick my then young self in the ass for would be doing the wide stance front end kit. I know I had the original stuff around, but over the course of years and moves, I can't find it.

Picked up this ECO POWER water proof servo from my LHS this morning for the Sporto. Specs seem real good and the price was right.

Question is, does anyone know how I can run it at the max 7.4v with the stock electronics. (My whole goal with this rig, for now anyway, was to have it as a loaner and keep the RTR Tx, Rx and even ESC).

I've looked at the Traxxas BEC kit, but there doesn't seem to be a whole lot of info on it.

I would put a 1080 in it and be done, you can run 7.4 volt with that and keep the stock tx/rx

Anyone else notice that under full front compression, the servo horn gets interference with the upper panhard link? Not that you’re going to be turning hard left under full front compression often, but these are the sorts of things that bother me. Anyway, I spaced the servo up about 3/32”, and then ground a tiny bit off the upper panhard end rod. Full clearance under full frontal compression at hard left.

You need the Bec kit to get that voltage to the servo

If you buy the Traxxas Bec kit you might as well install the Hobbywing 1080 ESC instead, spend less money and have a better ESC and less wiring and be able to run 7.4 volt to the servo.

Made a little progress on the Sporto today. Slipper eliminator installed. 45T Spur (waiting on 12T Pinion). Also got the Bowhouse low CG battery tray mounted. Next up will be the 1080 ESC so I can maximize the torque on the Pro Modeler servo.

I think it was Inspector86 that just confirmed the Traxxas BEC maxes at 6v, so it does no good for my needs.

I just know the new high torque servos from Traxxas are 6.0-7.4volts per traxxas

No, it's the re-release of the RC10 gold pan.

Definitely let us know how you like those Eco Power servos. I've never heard feed back on them.

And I would also get the HobbyWing 1080 before I'd add the Traxxas (or any other brand) BEC.

The Eco Power servo seems to be functioning well, even at the lower voltage. Big jump in speed and torque already over the RTR servo. Can’t wait to check it out at 7.4v. My 1080 ESC shipped today!
