Default Lowering my trx4 sport

Hey everyone. New to the forum. The area we crawl has a lot of steep inclines and rocky areas and the truck seems to tip a lot more than I’d like. I’ve got some brass for it but I was wondering how you guys lowered your sports to help with that.

I watched the YouTube videos from Harley Designs on the TRX 4 Sport budget build. Had some great tips on trimming the body so as to lower it and move the bumpers inward while also raising the rock sliders so the don't get hung up. I did these free mods and put the brass covers on the front portals. I'm very happy with the results. I also did the tire lug trimming which helped the stock tire traction a whole bunch.

I would buy shorter shocks (80mm) or modify the shock tower to be taller. Anything that is above the axle centerline raises the center of gravity. Any weight you can remove from that area will improve the climbing and side hilling abilities.

I'm running a Brazin Scale RC "All Time Low" G10 chassis that was designed for the TRX-4. It will shorten the wheel base to 12.3" and sit a bit lower using the stock shocks (90mm). Best of all it will be lighter and the performance is greatly improved. Bad news is the chassis and associated printed parts total cost is about $200.

Good luck ... the TRX is a great performing Portal Axle vehicle at a reasonable price. It also is easily improved.

Changing around the shock mounts gives you some flexibility. GPM lower mounts work out great on my rig...looking to change around the towers as well to give me some more options.

Running some droop shocks will also sit the truck lower...

Do you have a link to those? I tried looking them up but just kept showing bumper mounts and stuff.

PN TRX4019A-x (front) and TRX4013CA-x (rear) - where x is the color code. R=red, B-Blue, etc.

Front: https://www.ebay.com/itm/TRAXXAS-TRX...AAAOSww~VeFPMc

Rear: https://www.ebay.com/itm/TRAXXAS-TRX...wAAOSwR4peFPDk

I'm sure there are various colors available in this seller's store, just a link to the first ones I found.

I did the pen spring mod, dirt cheap. Found it helped.

Hot racing sells shock mounts that allow you to raise your shocks therefore lower you TRX 4. I am sure there are other companies also that sell these.

Play around with your preload rings on your shocks.

Get a smaller battery.

If you keep the rack and a bunch of stuff on it it will be tippy. Run a line were you tip with your body on and do it again with you body off and see if there is any difference.

You don't have add every piece of brass you can find. You don't have to have a heavy TRX4. Mine weights about 7.5lbs with a battery BUT I am not into on the scale stuff, I am function over form.

If you want to put looks ahead of performance and add all sorts of stuff you will probably need to add all sorts of weight as low as possible.

It is about what you want. There is no correct answer, just trade offs.

DO NOT BUY Hot Racing shock mounts! The panhard mount is a single shear design with a small cross section of material making it weak and will eventually break off in normal driving.

I have been running those for a while and no issues, yet.

What did you replace it with?
