Default To high gearing for a 12T crawlmaster?

Crawlmaster 12T, 13T pinion, 46T spur, 2 speed. 4300g rig. Is it to high gearing? Should I drop it to 10T, or just drive in first gear when under load? Don't have time to test, and a longish trail is coming up this Sunday...

Default Re: To high gearing for a 12T crawlmaster?

The TRX-4 should always be driven in 1st gear under load in my opinion. 2nd gear only used when cruising from obstacle to obstacle...

Basically, I don't use 2nd gear when going uphill - only on flat ground or downhill.

I'm guessing that you have the 550-size Crawlmaster - keep the gearing as close to stock and I think you'll be fine.
