Default Want a new body to replace the Defender body?

I love the look of this body, but it is way super top heavy. I would like to have a second body to put on it. I would like it to obviously be lighter and less top heavy than the Defender body, but I would also like it pre-painted. I have no interest or skill set in a clear body at this point. Thanks

You have very little options with the wheelbase. You could strip the defender of all accesaries and do the pickup mod. That will make it close to most short wheelbase crawlers plus you will have the longer wheelbase advantage. Clear bodies will require some modifications to fit this besides the painting. Then follow all the mods for the trx-4 and you should be able to hold your own against most crawlers. You could go with a clear body and paint the outside. You can always repaint it if you don’t like the outcome. Prepainted would be much harder to make it fit the chassis correctly.

You can make the wheelbase whatever you want by changing the links for shorter ones. Here’s my ex-defender with a 313mm wheelbase and a hard body. It crawls great.

I know you said pre-painted, but having that extra skill will help. It never hurts to try! Mistakes will be made, but you will learn from them!

With that out of the way, this is my body. I painted it myself, yes I messed up, but I made the mistake work and not look too bad. It’s on a Bronco chassis, but I have the defender links and shock towers, so pretty much a defender

Oh wow, fiberglass? Never knew they made some out of fiberglass. What did it run you if you don’t mind me asking?

This is what I painted and it was my first body, I wanted to have a body to use for rock crawling that was super light as the defender is more for my trail.

Pro-line makes sl Jeep body in the 12.8" wheelbase or if you switch to the 12.3" wheelbase you open up your selection.

Proline also does an FJ40 for the 12.8" WB.

wheel base will be your biggest issue. i ran into the same issue with my tactical unit. i shortened my wheelbase and then got a hard body that was lighter than my original body. it is held on by really strong magnets so there are no body posts showing.
