Default New to crawling- TRX-4 kit

I have been reading and looking at quite a few other projects here and thought I would put a few pics of my TRX4 up- couldn't upload so set up a hosting account.

Unassembled kit version but I have added the two speed transmission, a 15t pinion and mytrickrc lighting with tail, brake and turns signals.
Servo is a 35g from Amazon.

Motor is a traxxas 21t brushed motor, 1080 esc and Spektrum 515 receiver with a DX5c radio.
Wheels are GMade VR01 with the stock tires.

I know the pinion is crap for crawling but.... what got me started with rc is our dogs and they are bored if a car is too slow!
15t in top gear is enough to interest them and in 1st gear I can still crawl, though I admit low speed is kinda tough.

I am pretty happy with the truck overall though I think unlocking diffs may happen- tight turns bind up a LOT.

I don't love the body but may find something I really like at some point - old Ford truck or something.

The one thing I am thinking of trying to create is a remote-unlocking sway bar: at speed it rolls very easily, but I don't want to give up the flex for crawling.

If I get a bonus this year I may get into 3d printing which could help with bodies and making the sway bar bits.

Just so ya know, traxxas doesn't recommend that large a pinion with the stock motor for extended use in 2nd gear. Should likely monitor motor temps. If your only using 2nd on smooth surfaces you may get away with it. On the other hand, bashing in deep snow or grass may be too much load for it.

You can use https://www.flickr.com/ to host your photos. You get up to 1000 for free.

Best part is you can choose different sizes when you go to link them here.

If you pay for PRO, it's $6.99 a month or $72 a year. Gives you unlimited hosting and discounts on some other 3rd party services and no ads to you or those that visit your albums.

I'm using the free version right now.

You could always just open another account with a different email once you hit 1000 photos. lol.

I built my kit last month. The 2-speed trans is good. With the factory electronics it's faster than my buddies Redcat Gen8 AXE with the Hobby Wing 550 FOC.

The locking diffs are way better than I thought. It's not a dig trans radius but it's really good and also allow for more stability at higher speed. The final bonus is I can can lock the front when climbing. It create a bit more pull than push.

If you are doing locking sway bars - Jeep uses a dog clutch setup. This is the same as the 2-speed trans. You might be able to get some ideas (or parts) from that? BMW also has the "active sway bar" that uses motors and sensors to keep the car level. Theoretically you could do that on and RC with some servos and a micro, but it's in credibly complex.

For an electronic swaybar just use the dig or diff locking/unlock function from what ever rc you want. May need to weld a thin bar and 3D print a housing but that's probably your best bet.

You may want a bit better motor if it binds, or go 3s lipo. A budget holmes hobbies brushed motor could do you good.
What do you mean tight turns bind though? Does the car not want to move anymore?
