The Jackal - Castle powered Bronco, no wait, Blazer...

So, the LHS posted on FB that they had this Bronco in stock. I didn't want a Bronco. But I posted anyway how I wanted the Blazer instead. FB friend says he'll buy the body from me, so I picked it up. The next day it was time for gender reassignment surgery for this pup.

Step 1: Install 2.2 beadlocks and Losi Rock Carver 5.3" tires.
Step 2: Remove stock body, motor, ESC, wheels, battery tray, and bumpers. Bu-bye, not gonna need ya. Warranty? Never heard of her.
Step 3: Flip front bumper mount.
Step 4: Install Bowhouse low CG battery tray.
Step 5: Install Mamba X ESC with Castle Slate 2850kV sensored brushless motor.
Step 6: Install Y-splitter joining the Mamba's Aux channel with the high/low servo on channel 3.
Step 7: Set Aux channel to Rock Racer/Crawler mode. (When I'm in 2nd gear there's very little drag brake and no instant reverse, 1st gear is crawler mode w/100% drag and instant reverse).
Step 8: Replace steering servo with Savox black edition.
Step 9: Try on a set of SSD 5 slot wheels with Proline BFG Krawlers in G8 of course.

Future:
- Custom metal front and rear bumpers
- Painted body like the K5 below
- Install grille, door handles, wipers, side markers and tail light bezels.
- Install Traxxas light kit
- Install mud flaps
- Strengthen body with drywall tape and e6000

Possible:
- Sound kit
- Interior
- Brass stuff
- Rock lights

And here's the proof:

Wow, this is going to be a very nice looking rig. Great work, can’t wait to see more.

Thanks Uncle Pete! The body is at the painters so I'm hoping to get it back and put together very soon.

Re: New TRX-4 Bronco -> brushless Blazer conversion

With that ESC you can set it for 7.5 volts and necessary amperage to run the steering servo at it best. That ESC is one of the few that will actual push the needed amperage for your steering servo to run its best.

------------BUT----------------------------

Supposedly that extra power could cause issues for your other electronics, your receiver and other micro servos.

You can run it at higher power and hope for the best. You can run it at a lower power and play it safe, but not have your steering servo perform as good as it could. You can get an external BEC and bypass and just run the steering servo at the higher power or be prepared to possibly have to replace other Traxxas electrically components.

Looks good. Here's my Blazer -- different truck and different version of the body...but I feel like sharing anyway.

Post #6 is a full size K5 Blazer. It was my inspiration for the paint scheme. Lol

Finally done with the Jackal after stalling for a while. I was debating whether or not to strengthen the body with drywall tape and glue, but finally decided to do it.

I also had to hand cut a vinyl bowtie for the grille. Can’t wait to get her outside!

Tried on some new rubber. The tires are just a bit too large, but I love the wheels on there!
