Trx4 Wide Project

Thought I would share a project I put together in case someone wants to try it or just curious. I was itching to do another out of the ordinary build. I had a Trx4 Sport chassis in a box for awhile that I wanted to do something with instead of just get portals and build it up I wanted to do something different and wanted a wide more stable at speeds Trx4. So I put xr247 axles under it with a 2 speed tranny. I measured out and tried the stock lower links to get the wb and did a little rod end adjusting and it was going to work. I used the rear uppers and a little red end playing with and it worked well. I first tried the panhard setup, I didnt like the position of the servo setup after some trial and error I decided to just 4 link it. The trx4 rails are tougher to drill through than I expected lol. I made some angled spacers to make up for the bend in the chassis and mounted the servo on the axle instead and it worked out good. Gearing was a worry because of no gear reduction in the xr247 axles so I went with a 35t motor with a 11t pinion on the 45t spur gear. I like the speed so far just on 2s, but I may gear down a little more on the motor. I still need to add a few things to complete it, but its running.https://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/202...b7722a79f4.jpghttps://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/202...23df896716.jpghttps://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/202...9617a53cc2.jpghttps://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/202...a677e4c32a.jpghttps://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/202...965e01a615.jpg

ar60s would have been a much better choice in my opinion more options better gearing better steering lots of aftermarket suport and you can get them in plastic or aluminum or potmetal
the only time i would consider the xr247 axles is on the rear end ivr built a few rigs that way
the xr247 makes a nice rear steering axle
the ar60s do need some work to be bomb proof though while the xr247 axles are pretry stought out of the box
which is good cause there isent any aftermarket suport to make them better

Thanks for the info. I had the axles already so I figured I would try it out to see how I liked it. It was more of a what I had laying around build to see how it went and how I liked it. Once I get more run time in I may ended up getting some ar60's for it if I really enjoy it. I did notice the drag link hitting the chub screws so I switched them for screws with flat instead of domed heads to get a tad more steering angle.

Little update, went ahead and put sliders on cleaned the wiring up and changed out the rear upper links. The driveshafts came in, but I had to grind down the end yokes a little to get them to work on the axle outputs. I moved the rear brace back to better accommodate a full size battery. It's more solid and better prepared for abuse. Next will be shocks and front towers to get a better angle, I like the 100mm length so far.https://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/202...1a633059bf.jpghttps://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/202...8868f480be.jpg
