Default Kajo's Krawler

Well, after having my e-maxx for a little over a year and reading this board, I finally decided that it was time to take the plunge. Basics:

Truck Base : E-maxx
ESC: EVX
Motor(s): Integy 55t
Servo(s): front HS645. need rear steer
Trans: Emaxx locked in 1st
Axles: Emaxx locked out
Tires: Moabs
WB: 17 5/8"
Overall Width:18"
Diff clearance:4"
Center Chassis clearance:5"
Overall height: chassis height 9"
Overall weight: Unknown at this time

I need to take it apart to finish off the fabbed parts and locktite all the nuts. I also need to fit the e-maxx body on it for now until I decide what body to buy.

I fit the old body on today after work and headed out to the back yard for a little testing

body fitted for now:

underneath view. I need to add a skidplate to the belly:

Back Yard shots (No poser shots either):

Here is a piece of Lava rock that is in my back yard. The front face is almost vertical. Tried to scale it. I need to add some weight to the fronttires and/or cutthe foams to see if that helps any.

Nice looking Toyota

Pretty good job on the Maxx. A bit to wide of you wanna run comps but it's a good start. Seems like the better part of the super class crawlers are in the 14" wide range. Being 18" wide will be pretty hard to get between 18" wide gates

nice..lol...now its time to build a body to make it look like ur 1:1
If you know where there is a scale version of he 84-88 Toyota body let me know. I would build one in a second. I was at the LHS looking at bodies for it yesterday. I ended up buying a Crowdpleaser for my son's 2.2 that I am also working on.

Raptorman57: I thought gates are 20" minimum. Anyways I am going to work on narrowing it but some don't think I will get it much narrower than 17"

Check out Rockwerks body thread in the vendors section. He offers a 2nd gen Toyota truck body

Why do they think you can't get it less than 17"? If anything, you have the most adjustment out of ANY platform around. If you ran sliders for axles or went with Revo knuckles and Revo shafts,I'd bet you could get it down to 10-11" wide fairly easy.

Kajo, nevermind Steve as he hasn't had his daily dose of crack this morning

gates are 20" apart..

As for narrowing it, you can mount up some non 2.5 arms (narrow arms) and change to a wheel with less backspacing. That would get you down near 15" or so. On top of that, you could cut down the narrow arms to get you even more narrower.. With the width your at now, you can fit, but you will have some trouble with gates at times. Wider is not always better

My plan isn't to compete with it but will try it out to see how it does. Matter of fact this coming weekend I am going to the Hawaii Comp. to see how it does. I need to at least see how well it compares to other crawlers.

Saturday I received a package in the mail from JP Custom RC's (run2jeepn) with 2 Towerpro MG945 Servos and the switch for the TQ3 plus some stuff for my 2.2 in the works. Got it all installed today and what a difference rear steer makes. For some reason the front servo hiccups during normal operation. I put my HS645 servo on the front and it seemed to fix the problem. Anybody ever have an issue with this, I will try to figure it out tonight or tomorrow. I ran a battery pack through it and it will take a little bit of stick time to get used to the rear steer.

Nice crawler and 1:1 truck. I really need to get around to doing that to my E-Maxx. Right now the chassis is stock.

Your largest improvment will be lowering your COG

get the battery lower
swap in a rc4wd tranny, - the output shafts will be just about level with the belly pan and the motor will be within 1/4 of the belly

i'll shoot ya some pics tonight
Cool Toy too

Here's my 1:1

driveshafts are OK for now. will upgrade to Revo eventually

I added rear steer now and the urning radius is pretty sweet.

I put the revo ends on when I upgraded to revo shafts in the axle while still Independent.
