Have most of you Emaxx crawlers glued the tranny gears together to rid the slop? Are you all still running high and low?

I knew you had the answer but I didn't think that you were back from UROC yet. I need to know which gears you glue together.

If it were mounted in the truck on the bottom there are 2 gears, with the shifter slider in the middle. when the shifter is pulled out it will be in low gear. You glue the slider in the middle of the gears to the low gear.

DD,, , I haven't tried gluing the gears as of yet.. I did however ,, buy a 3/16 collar and pulled the shaft out and bolted the collar on... It holds it in 1st gear... Then you can take off the extra servo if you like ...

That's a great idea! Does it also remove the "slop"?

DD ,,, Nope,,, it doesn't remove the slop... Still workin on that.. . I really don't like gluein stuff together internally ... If you know what I mean ??? Friends of mine keep gluein their diffs to lock them up... They have XTM straight axles... They always keep breakin loose.. :( You hear the familiar click ,,click ,,, click..

I used to know the "click click click". I use Xfactor axles on one of my truck. the clicking is either the ring and pinion gears, stripping or the axle shaft coupler's grub screw has backed out. I have eliminated this by JB Welding everything together. I am opposite of you I guess! I like to JB Weld everything I can. I have yet to see an XFactor axles shaft break, nor the coupler, nor a JB Welded Differential. So, I JB Welded everthing together....diff, shafts into the coupler, etc. Works great. Only downside is that if something does break....I have to buy all the parts. Oh well.....beats tearing the whole truck down every week and tightening the grub screws.

if you take the tranny apart you will see what is causing all the slop. by slop, we mean the fact that you can roll the truck backwards and fowards freely before the gears engage. it happens because of how they designed the two speed tranny. they use dog gears just like old motorcycle motors did. i hot glued the components together and it has worked fine. jk (dirtpigs from australia) epoxied his together. like him, i also removed the rest of the unnecesary components. i removed all of the high speed gears, the shifter arm, and theshifter rod. the tranny is rather light after you remove all these components and is very tight. it's worthwhile doing this mod.

Great. Although....I'm still considering leaving second gear in. I ordered a gear reduction unit, 3.8:1. I may be able to use 2nd gear when I need rpm's. We'll see! I got the tranny installed last night with a lot of other mods too. Can't wait to finish it.
