Alright... Say one has a Maxx based crawler, fixed IFS/IRS into solid axle like setup... what would be the first thing to break? Sliders from diff to hubs? Diffs? Sliders in general? I'd like to gather as much info as I can from everyone.... needin' to pick your brains! I've got 3 days to get as much info as I can...........

Slider shafts, I've broken four so far. Each one once. I replaced them with the new ones that they claim are "heavy duty" and they haven't twisted yet. I didn't have the cash for CVD's.

Well, here's my plan..... Maxx hubs, axles(sliders) and diffs. 'Pede tranny hooked to Maxx diffs via Maxx 2.5 sliders. I'll be running Kongs. I'll be making high clearence axles, all homebuilt. Basicly I just want to know how durable the Maxx stuff really is. I see it everywhere and the prices on the stuff is always dropping. I figured that using this Maxx stuff would be an okay way to go for a crawler only, riding on Kongs.

Yup,,, sliders are the weak point.... They have a tendency to twist on you... The new ones seem to be better,, they are heavier duty than the old ones.. and they have bigger steel joints,, but,, I stepped up and bought the Dynamite steel CVD's... No probs so far...

toyo,,,, I built a Maxx crawler using the pede tranny.. Smoked a motor... the gear ratio is way too high... The motor has to work too hard in tight spots... Everything got hot ... :( I went back to the Maxx tranny,,, much better... Can run all day and don't get toasty...

X-Factor ratio is 3:1 Jugg/TXT ratio is 2:1 Not sure where you learned that the X-Factor diffs have a much lower than Maxx ones when they're the same ratio. Perhaps proper gearing(pinion/spur), motor, battery choice made/makes a difference. Main reason to use a 'Pede tranny is that they are cheap, small and light weight. I can adapt my reduction unit to it easily if needed. Main reason I want to use Maxx diffs is 'cause I can get the center up high unlike the lower slung X-Factor ones. | |

toyo,,, thnx for the info... I didn't know the ratios were the same.. All I know is that the pede tranny and maxx diffs together were geared way too high for my rig... I use a 9 tooth pinion and a 76 tooth spur from Losi... Anyway,, I went back to the maxx tranny and everything is fine now...

Hey Toyofast, I'd definately go with the reduction unit if you're going to run Jumbo kongs. The Stampede tranny would be hurting without it! see you soon! ryan
