A few more pictures....sorry did not take too many. I kind of got excited building it, and forgot about the camera. I have to say that brazing this thing was a lot easier than I thought.

Thanks for looking,
Chad

One more thing, I am kind of stuck on how to mount up the motor/GD600. I want to mount it like shown in the pics because it thows a lot of the weight forward on the chassis over the axle. That is where I stopped today. I just can't seem to get it.

Thanks,
Chad

good work on that tuber (can't wait till mines gets here), on that gd600 mounting
problem. try making some kind of motor plate behind the spur, so you have a mountin location to start with. just my suggestion. but i really like your design, you got some skills! keep it up. ka'aina

Thanks, but the mount has to be in front of the spur for my application (the motor is in front of the trans, not beside it). Thanks for the suggestion, and compliments though.

You have some mighty fine bending skills to get those lower tubes so curvy. What style bender do you use?

Thanks Johnrob, the bender is an OEM Industrial Part #25179 (Autozone).

I didn't use a Pede tranny because I already had a T-maxx tranny (saved anywhere from $65 to $125).

Yeah I am really considering powder coating it, but my buddy said that he doesn't have the color that I want (Solar Yellow, same as my 1:1 TJ). He only has black and white. He could get something really close but I would have to buy way too much for what I would be using.

Anyways, thanks for looking. Keep it coming, I still need a little help with the motor/GD600. I would like to keep it fairly simple to remove and install the motor. I would not want to have to remove the tranny each time that I want to change motors.

Thanks,
Chad

If you can get a good, clear pic of the spur side of the trans(with spur not mounted), i might be able to fab a plate up for ya....I won't know for sure until I see what that side of the tranny looks like....

Thanks Twisted, I will look into that. I would much rather have it powder coated, especially since I know someone that does it.

Silvr, I will look at it when I get back home. I will be out of town on business for the next day or so.

Thanks,
Chad

on my brothers truck(t maxx tranny, motor in front)we drilled a hole the size of the motor in a peice 3x5x1/2in alum.then cut a straight line from side to side at the center point of the circle.had to make some holes in the gd and mounted to the bottom peice.the top half clamps over the motor to hold it in place(think of a bmx style handle bar gooseneck).on the chassis we made some slots so the alum motor mount could be adjusted in and out tward the tranny gear.the trick here is placement, you have to be on the side,or down side of the tranny gear so you can adjust side to side.drill your hole for the motor, cut the peice, mount the motor, then you can play with gd angle to get it to the side.plus you can make your mounting holes in the gd and plate at the same time.sorry no pics,he sold it .all we used was a drill, hacksaw and beltsander,so you dont need any special tools to do this.nice chassis too,are you running panels,or just a frame?

Thanks, I actually have some aluminum laying around....I will have to look at that to see if I have enough room.
I am going to run some kind of body panels. I will probably use carbon fiber if I can find some locally.

when your looking to see if it will fit, remember you can shape the alum down to so its not just a 3x5 square peice.we left about a half inch around the motor,so we had room to clamp the top to the bottom.and followed the gd exactly.it wasnt really that big when we finished.yea caron fiber would be cool.i just started a new one to.following the body lines of the proline jeep.i'll cut the back off behind the doors, and hack the fake winch off the front.everything else seems to clear.nice job, keep it up!

Hello all,
Thank you for your suggestions.

I actually had an idea hit me last night for my motor mount. It seems to work. Tell me what you think....any possible problems that you see. The pictures are self explanatory I think. The material is 1/8" x 1 1/4" steel flat bar.

Went out and did a little testing today.....I like the way it performed. It needs a little more speed, but the torque that the GD600 puts out is great. I get almost no lifting or touque twist with extreme hill climbs, so I am very pleased with that.

My MM should be here sometime this week, and I will get some action pics posted up.

Chad

Ok, finally got the MM installed. I also got my Moabs and Commandos on it. Did a little testing around the house and I really like the MM and Moabs. Anyways, here is a few more pics. I actually went to a rock garden that is about an hour from the house, but I left the camera at home. Oh well, here you go.

What tubing did you use? Nice work! Also, did ya just use the stock shock mounting? How does that work?
