Default EMaxx Crawler Noobie Question

I have an EMaxx that I am thinking of modifying to do a little crawling. I was just going to leave the titans unless there is something better, and replace the pinion gears with 9 tooth. I was also going to only run 4 shocks with the stock red springs (soft). Has anyone else just done this? How well did it work?

Also, I am confused about why a fixed axle is better. I would think independent suspension would be more suited for crawling since they can move independently of each other.

Any other suggestions are greatly appreciated. I will be building a Stick later this year but just wanted to see how the EMaxx would do. If I don't like it, I can easily switch it back.

Thanks...

You wouldnt want to run the titan motors. They are 14.4v motors, and you would need to run both batteries for it,and that means more wieght..Get a 55t motor and a GD600,and youll have way more torque.

You can actually use a titan with a single battery. My dad is using that with a 72 spur and 10 tooth pinion. Since you are only giving it half the volts it wants it runs at half speed and half torque. It actuially preforms decent, not as much torque as a lathe and not as long run times but if you are short on cash it can get you by.

Noone has tried that before. Not sure how that setup would work It works fine for what little crawling it sounds like you will be doing, although it wouldn't compare to a full blown crawler

When the IFS axle goes up, you lose center diff clearance. also when running a SA, when one side lifts up, it puts more ground pressure on the other side. a SA rig will dominate an IFS rig anyday

other suggestions- use the search button. all these questions have been asked and is like beating a dead horse. Another thing, don't be a traitor. Stick with the shafty My son has a stick and yes it is a great truck, my new rig can stay right up with it and go exactly where it goes. Although it doesn't drive like a clod (Thank god) it will still go where it goes, just have to drive it different

Default Gd600

Is there enough room to hook up a GD600 on an emaxx? Anyone got pics of this?

Default Gear Reduction Example

You had posted this earlier in a different thread that shows exactly what I was looking for:
Maxx Crawlers Gallery

It is about 1/2 way down the page. The emaxx was for ExtremeOffRoad. This is only running one motor hooked up to a gear reduction. Woudl I get just as much torque not using a gear reduction but two 65t lathe engines?

Thanks
