Exclamation Project SIDEWINDER - RCC's first REVO based crawler

First I would like to thank the RCC comunity for all your help. Without you this project would never have been!

This is my first crawler, and as usual, instead of just going simple and learnig, I bit off a little more than I could chew!
But I got through it and I don't know how practical it is, but it was a blast to build and it's a blast to drive!!

I already have a few upgrades in mind. First, a second motor!! This thing is so blasted HEAVY!! I needs a little more 'grunt'.
Also I need to ditch the tires. I want to replace them with Moab XL's and bead-locks. Then the performance and fun factor will go WAY UP!! :-P

Well here it is, project SIDEWINDER !!!! Let me know what you think.

Looks like a good start, and interesting design with parts of the chassis still connected...

I knew somebody would do a revo soon

so it looks like the arms have their own suspension, then the front and rear are suspended to the chassis.

does that make it spoungy at all? isee you have the GTR springs cranked all the way down though.... kind of a lock out?

very creative though... nice job8-)

Beadlocks are gonna make it heavier more than likely but I like it.

Yeah I have to agree. Most indi suspension trucks are mostly built the same. Locked arms and four-link.

No, I said that because I am building a electric Revo crawler that will take advantage of the Revo's unique suspension.

Well....after much searching ebay and forums etc for a rtr rock crawler that was close enough to pick up in person i decided to purchase a new revo from lhs instead.
I love nitro anyways and i love rock crawling and i love rtr.It was a no brainer:-)
I just finished break in and have did after run with wd-40 so it will be ready
this weekend.I may opt to go ahead and install the long rockers on it and will
probably buy spools.....moabs and change out springs etc.
I know nitro isnt the choice powerplant but it definately adds realism:-).
Im gonna have 670 bucks tied up in it and it isnt even rock ready yet.......ouch!
But it is a work of art tho......wish me luck. Its probably the most capable stock
nitro to make into semi crawler. Its traxxas so parts will be easy and quick to purchase. It is so easy to tune and stay running also.

Thanks for all of the compliments guys! :-P

I posted the pics right after I finished it. Although it is cool and fun to drive, as I expected, it's a bit impractical as is. So ... it's already in pieces!
I KNOW, I HAVE A DISEASE! But I'm seeking counseling!!

My plan is to lower the CG ( i'm currently designing a 'low profile/cg/turning mass' e-maxx based tranny), kill the excess weight (extra batts, chassis plates etc.), switch to front mounted single servo steering (still dual steering though), lock the fromt A-arms, use the stock rockers for the 4-link suspension, and add my new Moab XL's & Cheyenne bead-loc's!!

I think it will all come together. (uuh, i hope)

Keep ya posted!!
